TCIL – IT Education & Training Centre, Cuttack held an ‘Orientation Program’ for the IXth Batch of newly admitted students to the Post Graduate Diploma in Health, Safety & Environment Management. The Institute’s current approved intake capacity is 90 and considering supernumerary seats the total admitted to the course is 100. The Centre has its own reputation of providing training to her students in dock safety, first aid training in collaboration with St. John Ambulance (India). The other partner trainers are NALCO, IFFCO, PPL, SCI, Mumbai, RLI, Kolkata. Prof. Roy Chowdhury, Principal welcomed the students and urged them to be serious in their studies from the day one and said the students are here not just to build their career for safety professional but has much bigger role to play in the society. They are the FIRST INCIDENT RESPONDER. Shri G. Somsekharan Pillai, Managing Coordinator, Regional Head Quarter, Kochi was here to address the fresher. He briefed the students about TCIL, a central PSU under Administrative Control of DOT, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology and the status of the course.
The course certification is well accepted by the industry especially by all central PSUs. Besides being groomed for safety professionals he emphasized the course helps the engineers to get an edge in an competitive environment as the present employment scenario calls for the people working in an engineering industry must have safety, occupational health and environment management knowledge. The Principal introduced the Faculty members to the students. Senior faculty, Shri Sarat Chandra Swain, an alumnus of National Fire Service College, Nagpur, Shri Subhas Sahoo, an alumnus of Central Labour Institute , Mumbai addressed the students and gave subject overview. Prof. Roy Chowdhury promised the students of institute’s adherence to quality education and said he is always available to the students to resolve their problems. He announced that the institute will hold NABET accredit short term course and workshop on safety during the current academic year. He also said the institution will observe 29th National Road Safety Week – 2018 and urged the student for active participation.
